ABEC (Autism Behavioral Educational Consulting) helps your child move forward with ABA therapy and consultation.
ABEC offers educational and behavioral consultation services for children and adolescents with autism and related disorders. Our service is based on the principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA). ABA is an evidence-based therapeutic approach to promote the development and functionality of individuals with autism spectrum disorder. We also incorporate other intervention approaches such as TEACCH, sensory integration, and technology solutions. We offer a line of services for families who are dedicated to ensuring the best education for their children. With our service, your child will receive:
- PERSONALIZED educational programming based on the principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA). An original therapy plan is developed and monitored for your child. The therapy plan will accommodate your child’s characteristics, development, and pertinent behavior patterns. Your child will work on a range of learning goals: cognitive, academic, social, communication, fine motor, gross motor, self-help, and vocational skills.
- IN-HOME therapy and consultation. Your child receives one to one attention from a trained therapist. Individual and intensive therapy is a recipe for your child’s success. Caregivers can discuss difficulties and concerns (as well as joys and excitement) regarding their child’s development.
- Positive behavior support plan (PBSP) for challenging behavior that interferes with your child's learning and development. Many of our clients have challenging behavior (physical aggression, self-injurious behavior, tantrum, inappropriate vocalizations, and repetitive behavior) that makes them difficult to focus on learning. Our staff is experienced with analyzing the cause of the behavior and developing a PBSP that minimizes disruption to your child’s learning.
- Functional communication training and technology solutions for children with communication problems. Children with limited oral language may benefit from our technology solutions for communication training. Our clients have learned to communicate using iPad or other augmentative alternative communication (AAC; picture symbols for example) devices and reduce challenging behavior with great success.
- Social skills training for better adjustment to the society and friendship building. Social skill deficits are characteristic of children and adults with autism spectrum disorder. Children with autism may engage in repetitive and nonfunctional behavior and/or use socially awkward phrases. Your child will practice social skills that lead to a circle of friends and social support networks. On occasion, we form a social skills group for children with similar social skill needs.
